Soaring with Faith Illustration -- A Spiritless Congregation
An Illustration by cartoonist Joe McKeever
I am pleased to share that illustrations for my ForthTelling Innovation book—Soaring with Faith: The Difference Maker for Congregations are provided by cartoonist Joe McKeever.
The collectives are Soaring, Strong, Stumbling, Struggling, and Spiritless. Which one best describes your congregation?
A Spiritless congregation is a remnant group who are so culturally bound they cannot see the new thing God might do through them. The remnant is codependent on their congregational friends, rituals, and facilities. Their goal is to survive one more year. Without a radical new launch or planting they will one day cease to exist. They are fragile. They need the services of a trauma chaplain until there is an open door to confront them with the reality of their situation and the tough choices they must make.
